Living in Love and Harmony

From the Desk of Pastor Kim

branchport 2QB2RIB4Fall, 2017

Dear Friends of Branchport United Methodist Church,

It is hard to believe we are entering the last few months of 2017! As the leaves begin to change and the smell of grapes is in the air, we reflect on the past year with gratitude to God for His many blessings and appreciation for the love and support of all of you who support our church.

We have welcomed and celebrated 4 new members into our congregation! They each have brought gifts that have helped rejuvenate our building and those within its walls. Our fellowship room off the sanctuary got a fresh coat of paint and some other changes that have opened the room up to make it even more inviting to enter into and stay for a while.

We shared in 3 Memorial Services and celebrated Father’s Day with a breakfast before our worship service. We celebrated a Baptism in the spring and supported a mission project by a little girl who knows how to follow the urging of the Holy Spirit. At the end of September, she took a car load of items to the Yates County Animal Shelter because her birthday wish was to “make a difference”.  We also prayed with a couple who went off on an adventure to work with the NOMADS.

In addition to all those events, our outreach efforts this year included helping support the Living Well with our presence, our prayers and our money.  We have continued our collaboration with Friend United Methodist Church to provide healthy snacks to the elementary school’s Snack Pantry. We have also been able to send money through UMCOR to support the clean-up efforts in the south after the horrific hurricanes.

Though we would love to welcome children through the door more often, we were pleased to have 10 youth attend Vacation Bible School in August! We look forward to them returning at the beginning of December for a Christmas Program and dinner.

The July 4th Red, White and Blue 5K was a lot of work, but it proved very fruitful in the fellowship time it brought and we have had great feedback from participants on how Branchport UMC has touched their holiday. We have learned that we do not only offer a sermon Sunday mornings to those in the pews, but also when we go out into the community and offer a cold drink of water to those we encounter. This also was true as we participated in the Keuka College House of Worship Carnival and spent time visiting with the students.

Many of you came out to support our 2 Chicken BBQ’s this year. We enjoyed having you and would love to see you more often!

Remember, our worship time has changed to 10:45 am on Sunday.  Join us for a meaningful worship and fellowship time!

In peace,

Pastor Kim Lyons
